Cup action for Crowland Town and Moulton Harrox, both with home advantage

Crowland Town and Moulton Harrox have silverware on their minds as they take a break from ChromaSport Peterborough & District Football League matters this weekend.

Both sides have home ties at Snowden Field and Broad Lane respectively in round three of the Lincolnshire FA Junior Cup on Saturday.

Premier Division side Harrox have a tough tie against Hykeham Town who are currently top of the Balcan Lighting Supplies Lincolnshire Football League having won eight of their ten games so far this season.

In contrast, Crowland will go into their game against Boston Workforce Unlimited League Premier Division side Fishtoft as firm favourites, especially after their Boston-based opponents were hammered 12-0 by Fulbeck United on Saturday.

Neil Colley, manager of the Division One league leaders, said: “We’re having a good season so far after a promising pre-season.

“The lads made a slow start to the campaign with a couple of losses at Stilton United and to Oundle Town at home.

“Since then though we’ve gone on a ten-game unbeaten run and we’re top scorers for the whole league with 61 goals.

“The team effort has been unbelievable and I can't single out anyone because they've all been superb.

"We turn up for training every Wednesday, getting good numbers, and the players put the work in during the sessions which is paying dividends on Saturdays."

Crowland have suffered a blow ahead of Saturday's cup tie with the departure of 22-goal top scorer Corban Oldham to big-money Premier Division side Parson Drove.

But Colley said: "We've still got Harry Grigas, a really promising striker, and Danny Firth who have together scored 27 goals in the league so far this season.

"The two of them will play together up front so we've still got goals within the team.

"But we're not just about goals because there's a teamwork ethic as well and while we'll miss Corban's goals, we've still got a strong squad.

"We've not scouted Fishtoft, but we did play against another side in their division, beating Ruskington Rovers 3-1 in the last round of the Junior Cup.

"So we know we're in for a battle and we're not taking this game lightly.

"We're expecting a tough, physical contest so it's pleasing that we'll be at full strength."

Apart from Oldham, the only Crowland player unavailable on Saturday is Juliano Resta who Colley described as "a key member of our squad".
